North Texas Tres Dias was Chartered in Spring of 1993. We were the first Tres Dias formed west of the Mississippi River and now there are over fifteen Tres Dias communities in Texas alone! We held our first weekends in the Fall of 1993 with the generous assistance of the North Georgia Tres Dias. In North Texas, the Tre Dias weekend begins on Thursday evening and concludes late Sunday afternoon.
Weekends are held two times a year - one set of weekends each spring and another in the fall. Each attendee, called a Candidate, has a Sponsor. The Sponsor prays for the Candidate and provides practical assistance to help make Candidate's three days on the weekend free from responsibilities elsewhere. Sponsors act as a resource for their Candidate after the weekend as well.
The weekends are centered around talks given by Lay and Clergy team members which present Biblically based Christian truths and the implications of such truths in our daily lives.
During the weekend, the candidate's worship and study together. Table groups are formed early in the weekend and close bands of friendship often occur. The atmosphere of a Tres Dias weekend is one of love, joy, hope, sharing, singing, participation, laughing, and worship and food. Lots of food.
